Quattro King of the Sea

16th Jun 2012 - 17th Jun 2012

Pumula. KZN South Coast

The Kwa Zulu Natal South Coast is a very special place in Winter, and on the weekend of 16th and 17th June it was made even more special by a great group of fishermen gathered together with one purpose in mind- to be crowned Quattro King of the Sea 2012. Pumula Beach hotel was the perfect host and with gorgeous weather that only the South Coast can produce in winter it turned out to be an exceptional weekend. Once again the first prize was a fully rigged Aquaquad kitted with a Yamaha 25HP Motor and on an XRad Trailer, with this awesome one man fishing craft once again proving to be a huge drawcard for the eager competitors. As well as the Aquaquad valued at over R90 000, there were loads of other awesome prizes including the new Pinnacle Elite valued at R10 000, ClarkeSki (Erics) new fishing Ski Ė the GT470, tackle, fishifinders, as well as a huge pile of goodies from Freedivers. So even if a cpompetitor wasnít to bag the main prize they ended up with something to make their non competing mates green with envy. Their was also a cash prize up for grabs for the biggest Wahoo to be caught of over 25kg, very kindly sponsored by Mascor Toyota who were heavily involved in the competition in the form of sponsorship, and providing an administrative assistance on Friday night registration- Thanks Stephen McIntyre. After making a bold move and moving the compo forward a week from the 9th and 10th June due to incremental weather predictions (thatís putting it mildly) the organisers and competitors were blessed with unbelievable weather for the entire weekend. The sea was like a millpond and the sun blazed warmly the entire weekend without even a breath of wind. ............... Winner was Shaun Posthumus with a 25.05kg Couta....
